Every year, ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ awards scholarships to a number of new, high-achieving international students.

About the ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Global Scholarship programme

Each year, ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ awards approximately SEK 20.5 million (€1.75 million / $1.85 million) in scholarship grants. This selective, merit-based scholarship programme is designed to recognise top academic students from outside the EU/EEA who are applying for degree programmes at ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ.

As a top 100 university, ranked in the top 0.4% of universities worldwide, ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ attracts high-achieving students globally. The ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ Global Scholarship programme acknowledges academic excellence by offering grants to exceptional students.

The application usually opens in early February every year. When the application period is open, you will find a link to the application portal further down this page.

Applicants who have completed an application for an international degree programme at ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ as their first choice will be notified by email when the scholarship application period opens. Also see 'Requirements and conditions' and 'How to apply' below.

Scholarship recipients are students with a proven track record of consistently high academic performance and a strong fit for ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ’s programmes. The scholarship is highly selective, competitive, and based entirely on merit.

To be eligible to apply for a scholarship you must meet all of the following criteria:

  • You must be a citizen of a country from outside the EU/EEA (and Switzerland) and be required to pay tuition fees.
  • You are applying in a regular application round to Master's level studies leading to a degree at ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ, or, exceptionally, for one of the Bachelor's programmes in Development Studies, Mathematics, Physics and Physical Geography. The programme at ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ that you are applying for a scholarship for should be your first choice in your application at universityadmissions.se.

Please note that special conditions may apply if you are applying to our programmes in Music and Fine arts.

Please do not apply if:

  • You do not meet the admission requirements to ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ
  • You have not selected a ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ programme as your first choice at universityadmissions.se
  • You cannot secure the funding needed to cover living costs, as required by the Swedish Migration Agency

Information about living costs in Sweden

  • Grants may cover part or all of the tuition fees.
  • The percentage awarded depends on the programme/faculty budget and does not reflect the student's academic standing.
  • Scholarships cover tuition fees only – living costs are not included.

Important Note

Recipients must still meet the Swedish Migration Agency’s requirements by funding their living expenses independently.
