The application for summer courses abroad 2026 is open 1–10 February.

To be considered eligible, you must meet the following requirements. You:

• are an active student, registered for full-time studies at ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ at the time of application
• have completed studies at ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ comprising at least 30 credits at the time of application, and 60 credits by the time of departure, and
• are highly proficient in the relevant language of instruction.

Course offerings for 2026 will be continuously updated until the application period opens in 1 February 2026.

Denmark, Aarhus Summer University

6–24 July 2025 and 27 July–14 August 2026 (3 weeks)

The length of course may vary. Courses are offered within the following disciplines:

• Humanities
• Arts
• Social Sciences

The summer courses can be anything from two to several weeks in length.

The summer courses do not charge tuition fees to students from ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ; however you must pay your own travel expenses, living costs and any visa fees. Administrative costs and costs for course excursions may apply.

Consider your funding opportunities when completing your application.

You may be eligible for study allowances via CSN if the summer course is at least three comprehensive weeks.

Summer courses are sometimes eligible for credit transfer towards your degree at ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ. Find out whether your faculty can transfer credit for the course you want to attend.

Unlike exchange studies, there is no requirement that summer courses abroad must be eligible for credit transfer.

The competition for summer course placements can be hard, especially for Asian destinations. In the selection process, the following is taken into consideration:

• The application, along with attachments, must be complete, written in good English, and submitted before the deadline. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
• Attachments should be uploaded as PDF or Word documents. Attachments in unknown formats that cannot be opened by reviewers will be considered incomplete.
• International students applying for summer courses in their home country will not be prioritised.
• Exchange students at ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ will not be prioritised.

If several students apply for the same spot, a selection process will be conducted. Applicants who meet the eligibility requirements will be ranked according to the criteria below. 

1. An even distribution of nominees from the different faculties is sought, based on the number of applicants per faculty.
2. Grades: Based on different grading scales per faculty.
3. Statement of Purpose: If several applicants have equal grades, Statement of Purpose will be the decisive factor.
4. Previous Exchange: Applicants who have not previously been on an exchange through ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ have priority.
5. Semester status: The applicant who has the shortest time left in their education has priority, provided that the exchange is feasible.
6. Lottery: If several applicants are ranked equally, the placement is decided by lottery.

Monitor your email for notifications, which are sent to all nominated students approximately three weeks after the closing date for applications.

If you are offered a place, you need to decline/accept within a few days. If you do not reply before the deadline, you are automatically considered to have declined the place.
