Closing your student account

Your student account is automatically closed after you have completed your studies at ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ. The account gives you access to email, documents, and other digital services. Make sure to save any important information well in advance.

How long you keep your student account

You keep your student account for two semesters after your last registration in Ladok. Registration includes:

  • First-time registration
  • Continuation or re-registration
  • Approved leave from studies (for programme students)

Account closure – step by step

1. Notification of closure

After two semesters without registration, you will receive a closure notice by email. This will be sent to both your student email address and the email address you entered in Ladok.

2. Deactivation after 30 days

From the date you receive the notice, you will have 30 days to access the account. After that, the account is deactivated, and you will no longer be able to log in.

3. Deletion after another 30 days

30 days after deactivation, the account – including all emails, files, and settings – will be permanently deleted.

You can reactivate your student account before deletion if you:

  • Get admitted to a new course
  • Register for a new course
  • Re-register for a previous course
  • Are granted a new approved leave from studies in Ladok.

Please note: This is an automated process. Staff at LU Servicedesk cannot stop or delay the closure.

What to do before your account is closed

  • Read all your emails
  • Update your contact email to a personal address
  • Save files from OneDrive and Office 365
  • Download files from any home directory (for example, at LTH)
  • Update your email address on services where you used your student email
  • Save files from Google Workspace using Google Takeout.

If you were admitted but did not register for your course

If you do not register in Ladok within 40 days after your course starts, your student account, which is created automatically upon admission, will be deleted.

If you are a doctoral student

Doctoral students follow the same process for student accounts. However, your employee account is not affected.
