What Claudia says about the Master's in International Marketing & Brand Management
Introducing Claudia
Hi! My name is Claudia and I'm the student ambassador for the Master's programme in International Marketing and Brand Management. I am happy to answer any questions you might have about the programme, courses, student life, and life in Lund and Sweden via the Unibuddy Platform, where you can chat with me (see below). Please note that I cannot answer questions about the application process, scholarships, or residence permits.
About the programme and the teaching style
Why did you choose ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ?
"First, the quality of education. I checked the QS ranking where ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ is placed in the top 100. Second, I checked the programme content which seemed very interesting and aligned to my interests. Finally, the language. I wanted to study a programme in English and in a city where I can speak English for daily activities such as buying groceries. In Lund, that's possible."
What do you think of your programme so far? Does it meet your expectations?
"I think I am learning important topics in my field that I didn't have in my Bachelor's degree. Classes, guest lectures, projects, and the literature provide a holistic learning. So far, it is meeting my expectations."
What is the best thing about your programme?
"The guest lectures! During this, business managers gave us strategic inputs about market trends and the organisational priorities and goals."
What do you think of the teaching style in Sweden?
"It's very open and friendly. The professors are not too formal and distant which encourages class participation."
How international is your programme?
"My class is quite big. We are approximately 64 people. Half of the class are from Sweden while the other half includes people from Germany, Italy, Austria, Greece, Turkey, France, China, Korea, Bangladesh and a few of us from Latin America. We are three, one from Venezuela, one from Brazil and me, from Peru."
Why should prospective students choose this programme?
"First, the courses in the programme are well-selected and highly relevant to the demands of the labour market. Second, as I mentioned, you can learn a lot of practical initiatives of leading companies in the market nowadays thanks to the guest lectures. Third, it’s useful for people who can study for only one year. Finally, and most fun, making friends around the world. Sometimes they share more cultural things than you expected."
What are the potential benefits or differences in doing a one-year Master’s programme?
"The benefit is that it’s short so it's less expensive than a two-year programme and it allows people to reincorporate to the labour market faster. It's a short programme, but intense."
Thoughts on being an international student at Lund, spare time and tips for prospective students
What is it like being an international student at ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ?
"You will find a lot of international students in your Master's programme, in your building, and in any extracurricular activity you join. For this reason, I consider it's nice that you can adapt to Sweden with more people at the same time. Also, students can attend many social activities provided by Nations (social clubs). Finally, it's very interesting to live in Lund and experience how walkable the city is as well as the common use of bikes."
What do you do in your spare time?
"I like going out with my friends around Lund and Malmö, sharing dinner with my friends from the corridor, and going to dance classes once per week."
Do you have any advice for students that are considering coming to Lund?
"Register for the webinars provided by the university, check the programme content to decide your top Master's choices when applying, ask current Master's students through Unibuddy, and have a list with all the documents required for the application process."
