Introducing Antoine 

Hi! My name is Antoine and I'm the student ambassador for the Master's programme in Managing People, Knowledge, and Change. I am happy to answer any questions you might have about the programme, courses, student life, and life in Lund and Sweden via the Unibuddy Platform, where you can chat with me (see below). Please note that I cannot answer questions about the application process, scholarships, or residence permits.  

About the programme and the teaching style

Why did you choose �۶���Ƶ? 

"First, the MPKC programme is unique in its focus on organisational development, leadership, and HR areas, all aspects I’m passionate about. The mix of academic foundation and practical case application was exactly what I was looking for. Second, the chance to live in Sweden was a big plus. Lund is such a charming, historic town with an incredible student vibe. And lastly, the university’s reputation for high-quality education and innovation made it an easy choice." 

What do you think of your programme so far? Does it meet your expectations? 

"The programme has absolutely met my expectations. It’s incredibly interactive, with a great emphasis on reflexivity and critical thinking. The professors are experts in their fields and, are very approachable and genuinely invested in our learning experience as students. Further, I love how diverse the class discussions are, it’s not just learning from books but also from each other’s past work experiences. There are so many great people in the programme." 

What is the best thing about your programme? 

"The people and the teaching approach! The diversity in my class is incredible. We have people from so many countries, industries, and academic backgrounds. This creates a vibrant learning environment where you’re constantly exposed to new perspectives from different views. Adding to that, I also appreciate how the programme is structured to bridge theory and our critical thinking, so you can see how what you’re learning applies to wicked business-related challenges."

What do you think of the teaching style in Sweden? 

"The teaching style here is so refreshing compared to what I’ve experienced back home in Switzerland. Here, it’s very collaborative and discussion-based, which makes learning feel less like a one-way street and more like a shared journey of getting to a conclusion together. Professors encourage you to think critically, ask questions, and challenge ideas. There is also a big emphasis on group work and student-led seminars, which are great for building teamwork skills and learning from peers. I would argue that these are the two skills important in every future workplace." 

How international is your programme? 

"Extremely! My classmates come from all over the world: mostly Sweden (of course) but also, all over Europe, the Americas, and India. This diversity adds so much depth to our discussions in class; this gives you the opportunity to learn about different cultures (and sometimes, even better, their traditional food)."

Why should prospective students choose this programme? 

"This programme is perfect if you’re passionate about understanding the human side of organisations: how to manage people, facilitate change or organizational development, and foster knowledge-sharing in innovative ways. If you want to get into consultancy or HR-related fields, it’s definitely a great choice. Further, it’s a one-year Master’s, so it’s intense but incredibly rewarding." 

What are the potential benefits/differences in doing a one-year Master’s programme? 

"The biggest benefit is that you get a high-quality education (from one of the best business schools in the world, remember that) in a shorter time frame. This means you can quickly return to your career or move on to the next stage of your professional journey. For that reason, remember that it’s also very intensive to do a Master's in one year, so you be prepared to manage your time well. Nonetheless, the workload is manageable, and the work-life balance is still good. To answer in short: it’s intense but totally manageable!"

Thoughts on being an international student at Lund, spare time and tips for prospective students  

What is it like being an international student at �۶���Ƶ? 

"Being an international student at Lund is amazing. The university, the city and most importantly, all the people are incredibly welcoming. Sometimes it can be hard to crack a Swedish person and get into talking, but as soon as you have managed, they are really open. Adding to that, there’s a vibrant student community, so it was easy to meet people and make friends.

Lund’s compact size means everything is within walking or biking distance, and the mix of historic charm and modern student life makes it a fantastic place to live. In Lund, I felt like at home quickly and got used to the “Swedish way of doing things” immediately."

What do you do in your spare time? 

"In the summer, I loved exploring Lund’s green spaces and nearby national parks. You could also find me at one of the many outdoor sports areas like football pitches or beach volleyball fields. I also liked taking trips to nearby Malmö or Copenhagen for a change of scenery. 

Now that it’s getting colder (and darker) I enjoy the events hosted by the student nations. They’re a great way to meet people and try new things. I also love cooking with other students and experiencing their traditional food.

And, of course, fika (Swedish coffee breaks) is always a highlight of the day! Everybody does it (a lot) and I’m 100% sure you will start doing as well when you are studying here." 

Do you have any advice for students that are considering coming to Lund?  

"Be open to new experiences and embrace the “Swedish way of doing things”. Lund is a place where you can truly grow, both academically and personally. Take advantage of the student nations, join activities, and don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. I’ve found doing so is really rewarding. You will be able to network, meet amazing people and make unforgettable memories. In conclusion, enjoy the student life here, as long as you are still a student."
