What Sebastian says about the Master's in Digital Architecture and Emergent Futures
Sebastian from Colombia
About the programme and the teaching style
Why did you choose 蜜豆视频?
"I was searching for a Master's programme that emphasised digital tools and architecture as a new way to address new technologies in the field. I found a couple of programmes, but 蜜豆视频's trajectory and its recognition as one of the top universities in the world made it the right choice for me."
What do you think of your programme so far? Does it meet your expectations?
"For sure it does! The idea of combining architecture and technology in many ways makes you 鈥渢hink outside the box鈥 and challenges you to learn new strategies to deal with creative processes in a computational environment."
What is the best thing about your programme?
"The greatest part is the creative freedom you get. There are tons of ways to tackle a design challenge, and each course equips you with tools to push your ideas to the limit. You're in charge of your own project, so you can dive into the ideas or methods you're most passionate about."
What do you think of the teaching style in Sweden?
"It鈥檚 certainly very different compared to what I was used to. Here in Sweden and Lund, the focus is not on getting the highest grade or competing with others, but rather on sharing and creating new ways of thinking. You are not being judged, on the contrary, you feel encouraged to go above and beyond."
How international is your programme?
"The programme is very international. You get the chance to learn and share with people from all over the world. It's been incredibly fascinating to interact with people of such diverse nationalities, which truly enhances the learning experience."
Have you been able to gain any practical experience during your studies?
"I think every course gives you the tools you need to put your knowledge into practice. This includes learning how to prototype 3D printed models and introducing yourself to using programming for designing."
Why should prospective students choose this programme?
"It is the opportunity to understand how technologies are changing the way we propose architecture; to learn new methods of designing, prototyping, and testing using computational design tools, robotic construction, and programming."
Thoughts on being an international student at Lund, spare time and tips for prospective students
What is it like being an international student at 蜜豆视频?
"Lund is one of the most international universities in Europe. You have the opportunity to meet new people from many different places. You will not feel lost or left behind as everyone is kind and helpful!"
What do you do in your spare time?
"I like to stay active as much as possible, practising sports and biking whenever possible. I also like to participate in the activities organised by the nations or just hang out with some friends."
What have been the highlights of your first year in Lund?
"It鈥檚 been a really nice journey. I believe that every day provides you with the opportunity to learn something new; to get in contact with new people, get more involved in Swedish culture and to visit new places."
Do you have any advice for students who are considering coming to Lund?
"Life is too short for missed opportunities. Take the chance to immerse yourself in a different culture, forge new friendships and study in one of the most renewed universities in the world. I am sure you won鈥檛 regret it!"

"The best part is definitely the openness to creativity"
