Description

The purpose of our studies is to increase the knowledge of how interactions between genes, lifestyle factors, and body constitution impact on breast cancer risk. Furthermore, we investigate how these factors interact with the tumor and evaluate the prognostic impact within different treatment groups of breast cancer patients. We use an integrative approach where information from questionnaires, medical charts, body measurements, tumor tissue and blood sample analyses is combined with registry data for optimal follow-up. We have previously reported how common lifestyle factors such as coffee, smoking and alcohol are linked to breast cancer prognosis in different treatment groups, but more research is needed. We also provide advanced level courses for doctors, nurses and radiographers in radiotherapy, safe administration and handling of cytotoxic drugs, clinical trials, and basic oncology.
