Dimitrios from Greece
How did you find out about this programme?
"I found out about this programme on the internet, at universityadmissions.se."
Why did you choose this programme?
"I chose the Master’s in Medical Science, Ageing and Health at ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ for many reasons. The main reason is that I would like to concentrate on research, especially in the Ageing and Health area, in the near future. In addition, ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ is one of the top-rated universities worldwide and the faculty of Medicine here has some great and distinguished scientists and lecturers."
What do you think about your choice of studies so far?
"I think I made a great choice! This programme meets my expectations and is exactly what I wanted."
What is the best thing about your programme?
"I have three favourite things: the teachers, the courses that are very interesting and the student-centred method of teaching. Every student is allowed and encouraged to share and express their opinions and ideas while learning. In addition, the fact that the students come from different disciplines has resulted in a more spherical presentation of perspectives and ideas. Prospective students should choose this Master's programme because it is unique compared to other relevant Master's programmes."
What is your favourite course and why?
"I am currently in the first semester, but my favourite course so far was Assessment and Evaluation Methods in Occupational Therapy, Nursing and Physiotherapy. This course made me think completely differently about evaluating a patient or a phenomenon and taught me to take more aspects and variables into consideration when it comes to assessing and evaluating."
What is your impression of the lecturers and seminars?
"So far, I have a great impression of both the lecturers and the lectures. The teachers are great professionals and distinguished scientists in their field, with plenty of experience in research. Because of that, the lectures are very interesting, educative, unique and answer most of my potential questions or issues."
What do you think of the teaching style?
"The teaching style is awesome. The student-centred method of teaching allows every student to share and express their opinions and ideas while learning. I think this is the best approach for a Master's programme."
What are the facilities like?
"The facilities are modern, high-tech and make the educational procedure easy and productive. They are also full of friendly personnel. The Faculty library is the best library I have ever visited!"
How international is your programme?
"The programme is very international! A wide spectrum of nationalities is represented, from each of the five continents of the world!"
What it is like to be an international student at ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ?
"It's an honour to be part of one of the best universities in the world, as well as a very exciting and educative experience. The ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ experience will certainly be the best thing that happened to you!"
What is studying in Sweden like compared to studying in your home country?
"We have great universities back in Greece too, but the education system here seem to be more organised and structured compared to that in my country."
What was your first impression of Lund?
"My first impression was great, and I was sure that I would have a great time studying there. I love the town of Lund! It is a beautiful, Nordic style town constructed around a huge and impressive cathedral. The town is surrounded by forests, lakes, rivers, parks, hiking routes and lots of green. It’s a small paradise!"
Do you have any favourite places in Lund?
"My favourite places in Lund are the town centre, the cathedral square and of course the botanical garden."
What do you do in your spare time?
"I love working out and going to the cinema in my spare time. I am also a member of a hiking group, one among hundreds of groups, nations and other clubs that focus on different activities and interests here in Lund."
Have you been able to get by with English in Sweden?
"Yes, Swedish people speak and understand English fluently."
Is there anything typically Swedish that you like?
"Cinnabons, cinnabons and cinnabons!"
What surprised you most about Sweden?
"I am surprised by the level of organisation in Sweden. Everything works perfectly here and the people are kind and nice!"
What are the highlights of your time here so far?
"The amazing party of the faculty of medicine in mid-November, where everyone had a great time! I also participated in some very entertaining and funny games where my team won free cinema tickets!"
What are you planning to do after your studies?
"In the near future, I would really like to do a PhD here in Sweden, at ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ if possible. After that, I would like to continue working in the ageing and health research field."
